About Ross
I’m a father, husband, and dedicated environmentalist. I’m running for Council to ensure a safer, greener, more affordable Berkeley.
I’ve spent the past fifteen years leading environmental efforts: I've worked on-the-ground restoring habitats in Haiti, I led teams monitoring urban tree canopy, I secured a deal that protected over 400,000 acres of forest on the East Coast, and I served on our local Sierra Club Executive Committee. It took me more than a decade to be able to afford to call Berkeley home. I’m running for City Council because I believe Berkeley can be the model of an affordable, well-run progressive city that delivers on its values.
As Councilmember, I will:
Fight for more housing to bring down the cost of living
Advocate for real solutions to homelessness
Champion smoother, safer streets
Support our first responders
Enhance our parks and public spaces
Grow our city’s economy and balance the budget

What Berkeley leaders are saying about Ross
-

Terry Taplin, Councilmember, Berkeley D2
“Having served with Ross in the Sierra Club Executive Committee, I know that his passion for the environment is real. He sees the direct connection between the decisions we make in Berkeley and our impact on the planet. Ross will fight for sustainability, affordability, and safety, but what really sets him apart is his empathy – he’s a guy who truly cares.”
-

Rashi Kesarwani, Councilmember, Berkeley D1
“District 1 deserves a councilmember who listens to residents, examines the data, and delivers workable solutions. Ross is the best choice for our district. I’ve watched him lead with integrity and a commitment to practical results that will make our community a better place.”
-

Mark Humbert, Councilmember, Berkeley D8
“A lot of candidates talk about how they’ll improve Berkeley’s public services and make it more affordable to live here, but Ross is the only candidate with a solid plan to actually make it happen. Beyond his civic policy experience, he brings an inclusive, collaborative, and results-driven style to council that will help us get things done.”
